Best Business Books for Entrepreneurs

Like all entrepreneurs, growing our business and achieving our dreams is always on our minds. We want to be successful. We’ve found reading and listening to business books is a great way to give us skills to reach our goals. So, when we travel to destination engagement sessions and weddings we’re usually listening to an audiobook. And through that time we’ve found quite a few business and self-help books that have given us encouragement and optimism in our business. Today, we’re sharing that list with you.

If you don’t have an Audible subscription and would like one, here’s a link to try Audible Premium Plus and you can get up to two audiobooks for free.

Rich Dad Poor Dad

Rich Dad Poor Dad is the story of the author, Robert T. Kiyosaki, growing up and learning financial guidance from his own dad and his best friend’s dad, his “rich dad”. Through many stories, Robert shares the ways both men shaped his thoughts about money and investing. He learned that working for money was never going to help him be rich. Instead, he needed to make his money work for him. Robert’s father encouraged him to go to college and to start his career at one company and stay there working his way up until he retired many years later. He was encouraged by his rich dad to find jobs that would teach him skills to be able to start his own businesses. Through these two completely different ideologies Robert was able to make take parts from each to make his own decisions.

This was one of the first finance and business books we listened to and gave us a lot of encouragement in that area of our lives. We learned that you don’t have to start out in life rich in order to get rich. That there is a difference between working for money and having your money work for you. And it’s encouraged us to start multiple streams of passive income so that we’re not constantly working for money.

How to Win Friends and Influence People

First published in 1936 Dale Carnegie’s How to Win Friends and Influence People has sold over 30 million copies worldwide. This book is essentially a guidebook to being the person everyone likes and wants to spend time with. As entrepreneurs we are constantly looking for clients, ways to better ourselves, to establish ourselves more. This book has helped us significantly in many ways, but the most in communication with clients, friends, and family. Carnegie shares his incredible advice that has helped numerous people climb the ladder of success in both their professional and personal lives.

This book was one we read in our second year of business. Although, we wish we would have read it as we were starting out. Labeled as a self-help book it has helped us both with our self-growth and continues to inspire us today. We’re still striving to be better versions of ourselves each day. We find ourselves constantly going back to this book to refresh our memories of his time-tested advice.

Get Rich, Lucky Bitch!

Written by Denise Duffield-Thomas, Get Rich, Lucky Bitch! is about applying the law of attraction in your life so you get what you want in the world. The author shares many personal stories and stories from her readers that prove that the law of attraction can work in your life. Of course, hard work and dedication to your goals are important and a must-have. However, Duffield-Thomas runs through common myths, stumbling blocks, and walls that prevent people from getting the success they want and deserve.

We recently listened to this book through Audible and found ourselves nodding our heads in agreement throughout the entire reading. We’ve recently started applying the law of attraction in our lives. And in only our first month, we’ve seen some incredible growth and success. We’re setting goals, putting in the work, and proving to ourselves that it is possible. We feel much more optimistic about our future both personally and professionally after reading this book.

Profit First

Some of our favorite photography leaders in the industry recommended this book to us last year when we were going through their business course. With that said, we just bought Profit First by Mike Michalowicz and we’re excited to get started on it! Michalowicz shares multiple case studies and gives practical advice on how to turn your business from a cash-eating monster into a profitable cash cow.

One of the things we’re most looking forward to learning from this book is ways to simplify our accounting practices. More simple systems allow for easier ways to teach new employees. This will help us expand and grow our business at a much faster rate. We’re also looking forward to achieving sustained profitability and constant growth.
